Release, Surrender, You have all you need with in you ~
We SOOOOO often are convinced we need something outside of ourselves. And our capitalistic society has indoctrinated us to think so. If we didn’t need things outside of ourself, how could the system survive? The answer … It wouldn’t, it would die.
Everything from ads, to social media, to tv, to store displays is trying to hack our brain and convince us that if we just aquire this next thing, look this way, we will finally be lovable and feel that we belong.
The sad truth, is that just like any addictive cycle, the endorphins wear off until we get the next thing.
It takes intention, and a daily reminder to myself that I have and I am all I need on this path.
Don’t get me wrong here, of course my community, my chosen family, my education, my movement practices, my daily rituals, all of these things make up the life I have worked so hard to find my self in right here right now.
But after all of that, I could still want more, I could still look at those who have more and want what they have. On the other hand, I could also look at those who have less and feel bad and shame for what I have that they don’t.
All of it is perception, all of it is a mindset shift. A truth I find for myself that is comforting, is no one is thinking about me nearly as much as I think about me. This constant “suffering” and struggle is one that everyone feels, it is a human predicament of the mind. One that we all sense into in some aspect, well that is unless the person is so utterly numb stuck in the addictive cycles like I briefly mentioned above. But even then, they are suffering.
It is hard to be human. It is hard to sit here in an age when mass genocide, political unrest and division breaks down the very thing that we have control over - our ability to connect and grow stronger through community.
Shit is literally wild out there, but we can control how we act and react, sitting in the seat of the witness to acknowledge our unique position that we hold in this big world. While we might be one human in the matrix of time and space, this little section of the world is ours to savor, protect and heal.
The healing starts within, but we can also co-heal through generosity of heart and service. Catch my next post for a deep dive on service and love ethic ~
