Discipline is Self Care

In the era of “moss girl not Boss Girl” , I’m here to discuss self care from the lens of DISCIPLINE.

In order to get clear, I like to consider my values and SMART goals. In order to stay on my path, these circulate my being through out each day. I reconnect to my WHY to remember who the F I am and what I need to be doing.

Now, I am not advocating that “boss girl” is better or superior to “moss girl”. We need to be both.

In my personal experience, my boss girl discipline and routine creates a wonderful container for me to step into the abundance and expansiveness of my moss girl vibes ~

But again, our society wants us to other and identify with one, which is BS because we are inherently both!!

This leads me into my next thought, comfort.

As a Yoga Therapist and personal trainer, I often use and hear the language “do what ever is comfortable” or “do what feels good”.

Now I’ve been super curious about this statement. Is that what I actually mean? No. I don’t mean that.

I think it is important to consider the following in our own lives and also while cueing others :

  1. Values + Goals

  2. Observe your “felt sense” in this very moment

  3. Do an inventory ~ find what YOU need in this very moment

Considerations

  1. What you need might not be comfortable!!

  2. Growth and change isn’t comfortable. In fact it is typically quite uncomfortable

  3. Discomfort isn’t “bad”

  4. Can you lean into discomfort and be curious about the process?

  5. Can you EMBODY the process?

    1. Not distract yourself

    2. Not disassociate

    3. But truly be in the moment, notice what is coming up in your body and mind when discomfort surfaces

To wrap, We Got This! There isn’t a book, person, professional, or program to tell us how to do this life. Each moment is an opportunity to observe, listen to what our body is telling us, and then show up for ourselves accordingly.
